Grid-Tied Solar Systems

Grid-Tied Solar Systems

What is a grid-tied solar system?

Grid-tied solar systems are programmed to use the electricity generated from the solar array first. When there is an excess of electricity generated by the solar panels, grid-tie systems will push electricity back into the grid on a large scale. Therefore when you use electricity from the grid again, you will pay less per unit. When the PV solar array is not able to generate electricity due to a lack of sunlight, the Grid-tied inverter/s will utilise the electricity from the grid as a back-up.

Grid-tied solar systems consist of solar panels and a grid-tie inverter. The grid-tied inverter functions without any battery backup connected, and it has to be connected to the grid at all times
